Vino 'tasting' at Doctrino's

Tasting? No spitting out here, and full-pours for everyone! Between the never ending wine, cheese, anchovies and embutidos (cured meats) things got out of control pretty quickly, and the table of young girls from Holland certainly didn't help! By the end of the night we had to roll Roman, the director of our school, out the door! Great wine; sweet and fruity Jumilla from the south, lazy Temperanillos, punchy Riojas, and my personal favourite: the San Roman Toro - an angry charge of flavour down your throat! Toro!
More about our accomm: Renaissance style building constructed from 'piedra de villmayor'. Beautiful cast iron entrance gates lead the eye over white marble floors to the grand staircase. Roman-esque cast iron sculptures, poised on white marble pedestals, greet the eye on every landing. Elevators - very old, very small, very slow. I take the stairs. Last night Husien (Germany) and Matt (Canada) didn't arrive for dinner. I was dissapointed because Matt has a very vocal dislike for boiled eggs and our dinner was, of course, boiled eggs. Well actually, boiled eggs stuffed with tuna, dipped in raw egg and fried (they are using us as guinea pigs but i'm not sure why)
As it turns out, the boys were stuck in the elevator. Apparently it didn't have the steam to make it the whole four floors and stopped for a 20 minute breather between floors 3 & 4.
This arvo we have visits to 3 museums - Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Spanish Civil War. Im so culturally exhausted I have declared the hours between midnight and 6AM no Spanish time - just so my head can take a break!
Hasta manana chicos!
