This is a photo of the atrium at the Museo Art Nouveau Y Art Deco. The seemingly incandescent stained glass permeates the building with an eerie blue light that gives one the impression of stepping into an underwater world. I was blown away by this place. The building, Casa Lis, was originally a palace built at the request of Don Miguel de Lis, a merchant from Salamanca who was in love with art Nouveau. Casa Lis, built at the beginning of the 20th century, now houses a large collection of decorative arts that were donated by Don Manuel Ramos Andrade, a Salamanca native who spent time in Sydney, working in showbiz.
In my highly unneddooocated but mildly cultured opinion, a return trip to Spain is worth it, in its entirety, with just one visit to this museum. It is that good. I might get into trouble with this post because security is out of control at the Museo and photos are strictly forbidden. A slightly terse security guard shakes down every visitor for offending photographic equipment. I hid mine, and this is the only 'black spot' I could find to snap a cheeky pic. Suckers.
I don't want to comment on each post and look like a try-hard... but I will likely do that anyway. This is an amazing space - good sneaking!
